Life has become so fast-paced these days we do not take the time anymore to take a stroll in the park and evaluate our lives. Our minds are so consumed with the past, present, and future that we don’t take the moment in and enjoy ourselves. Coaches around the world are helping people come back to the north star of their lives. I do agree with Alfred Adler as far as his coined statement goes that “contribution” is the north star of our lives and it helps us feel fulfilled and happy. However, everyone is unique and everyone has their unique north star. People from all walks of life have been to coaches and have taken life coaching and turned their lives around in ways no one could imagine by finding their guide to finding happiness and fulfillment.
Understanding Your Values and Priorities:
To understand your values and purpose in life you need to look deep within yourself. To understand how to master self-discovery, you must look within. Your values are the main things that make you unique from others. Your values are what determine the kind of person you are. Look within yourself and find those core values. Once you determine your core values that govern your actions. Now it’s time to focus on priorities, your priorities in life are an extension of your values. Your core values are what govern your priorities. Your priorities will always link back to your values. Such as a person who has a giving nature will always prioritize spending money on those less fortunate than others.
Setting Meaningful Goals:
When setting goals set SMART goals, SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Making sure that you start with setting SMART, meaning simple goals that are easier to achieve is great because once you check that box you will gain the inner satisfaction that you did do it. Slowly you can keep moving towards bold and bigger goals and in time you will be able to achieve those goals in a much easier way and it will bring you a sense of fulfillment and happiness.
Embracing Growth and Resilience:
Carol Dweck coined the term growth mindset. What it means is that you learn to become resilient in life and take every fall and failure as an opportunity to learn from it. The more you fail in life rather than quitting, take those opportunities to consider where you go wrong. Every setback in life is an opportunity for human to evaluate and trace back their sets to see what went wrong. This way in the future you refrain from making the same mistakes. This exercise will further make you resilient, you will not take your failure and wallow over it for a long time rather you will embrace the difficulties and challenges and make something good out of them because you by the wild be resilient enough that whatever life throws at you, you can fight back.
Cultivating Positive Habits:
Having discovered and embraced your core values and priorities, you can now cultivate good habits. Cultivating good habits means finding something meaningful in life and pursuing those goals. Without feeling the pressure of the world, just go with what your gut tells you. If you think you are making a good change in the community and it makes you happy then go for it. Positive habits can include minor habits like building stronger more meaningful bonds with the people around you, helping your community, helping those that are less fortunate, etc. the list goes on. But you can find a sense of purpose in these things and if they fulfill you and make you happy then keep on doing those things.
